The extended flexibility and functionality of the Xantus platform, with its ability to pipette a very wide range of both organic and inorganic liquids, has been applied to high throughput testing of automotive paints and finishes.

The 2m wide Xantus platform is configured with 1 pipetting arm (8 tips, fixed or disposable) and 1 robotic arm equipped with a tube gripper. The Xantus is optimised to pipette volumes of highly viscous liquids in the range from 5 µl to 5ml. Since the Xantus does not use syringes, this entire range can be pipetted precisely and accurately using the mini toothed wheel pumps, which are located at the back of the Xantus pipetting arm. The liquid is constantly mixed during pipetting.

The wide and deep deck incorporates a Gravimetric Dosing Module (designed by Synchron), and a PC controlled Thermoblock, and still has plenty of space for the test vials containing solvents, paints and finishes. Synchron software controls the scheduling of the total process.
